About

Julia is a self-taught artist from South Africa, based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Encouraged by her Artist mom, she has been painting and creating since early childhood where she discovered the joy that painting and colour brings. She took Art as a subject for her Matric, and pursued various professions, including working in Psychology/HR and Counselling and later Garden Design which fuses her love of creativity, problem solving, textures and colours.

She rediscovered her passion for painting, self exploration and self expression when she had kids. From then on, she devoted every free minute that her career and family allowed, to her love of creating with colour, experimenting with different mixed media techniques, taking various art courses and gradually teaching herself her artistic skills.

Nature has been a constant inspiration and source of subject matter in her work, reflected in her love of African animals and her work inspired by the landscape, flora and fauna of South Africa. She is now exploring all the abundant inspiration that New Zealand offers.

In recent years she has elevated her passion to a part-time profession and is constantly working to make her art a fully-fledged professional career. She has had her work in Cape Town galleries and has work for sale at The Collective in Cape Town, South Africa. Her art exists in private collections in South Africa, New Zealand and the UK.

Julia welcomes commissions, from private collectors and interior designers/stylists.
